The pleasant sub alpine hiking of the first 5 miles of the walk out goes through beautiful parklands and meadows fringed to the east by granite crags, that needs further exploration one day. Mt. Remmel, one of the highest and most important peaks in the central Pasayten is the blue hulk in the distance.

Massive burns from the devastating wildfires of 2003 characterize the trails in the Chewuch River drainage. They also signal an upcoming end to the 21 mile long walk back to the car, which we stupidly decided to undertake in one day. Roughly 14 hours on our tired feet was the result.
