!977 frame, number 3207682, in the great Team Frisol colors.
Another example of Gazelle's knack for color combinations, decal esthetics and how they got it just right back then.

Champion Mondial A-Frame

Note: This frame has been stolen from Anders in Denmark.
The incident took place in Copenhagen, near Fælledparken. Please report any sightings here
It looks like the picture below, except for the addition of shiny green Benotto bartape, and a silver stem instead of black

On this frame we see a several interesting things. Braze-on fittings for cable routing were common in 1977, yet none here. Shifter bosses on the downtube started to show across the board of high-end frame builders, but not on this A-Frame. The fork crown on the other hand is showing a cast logo, which seems ahead of times.

The finish shop in Dieren still did hand painted lug lining in the late seventies. This is the entry level A-Frame, meant to be built as an amateur racing bike or pro trainer (with fenders for year round use), yet the lug lining is extensive and well done. Pared with the overall appearance of decals and frame colors we get the impression that this is a much more expensive model. This confirms that the quality and famous ride characteristics of the Champion Mondial were present along the entire line-up.
