This 55cm ctc Gazelle is from 1970 and called a Champion Mondial, Semi Race version, serial #2423143. Year and model name was supplied by Gazelle when Erez inquired.

Champion Mondial Semi Race
Owned by Erez Beckman

Interesting things to note on this old Champion Mondial:
*No 'butterfly' brake bridge
*Triple fang fork crown
*Headtube lugs have extra reinforcement at top and bottom
*Reynolds decal doesn't state 'double' butted, and is the pre 1974 version without the gold address bar at the bottom.
*Almost complete lack of braze-on cable guides etc
*Short point lugs without cut-outs

When Erez Contacted Gazelle re his frame, he got the reply shown on the right. I have left contact info, in case you need to ask Ms. Bollen a question.

You put me on my wrong leg, so to speak, with your frame number. The Champion Mondial you’ve shown on the picture, is a semi-race bike who we build here as a complete bike in the beginning of the 70’s. To be precise, the building year is then 1970. Sorry for giving you the wrong information first. We build Champion Mondial frames till the mid nineties, but only as a frame set. Attached you’ll find a picture of the Champion Semi Race bike who is similar to yours, it is only 10 years younger, from the 1980 catalog. Hope you’ll get the right idea for restoring your nice frame set.

Best regards, Monique Bollen, customer service
