Dihedral Wall, 1990 On
Dihedral Wall there's one ledge, The Ledge, on the first 25 pitches.
It was all right. Not great, but conveniently located near one of
our bivys. The next horizontal platform is Thanksgiving Ledge, a huge,
interconnected band of exposed ledges leading over to the West buttress
finish, an apparently much recommended way of avoiding some nasty
chimneys high on Dihedral Wall. The last couple of pitches we did
below
Thanksgiving were also quite gnarly, making it easy for to embrace
the idea of this shortcut to the top.
Here Peter is doing some quality nailing low on the route. |
