Crossing one
of many obstacles on the march thru the Kern Trench. It is not
that any of these watercourses presents deadly dangers, like
swollen rivers in Alaska for instance, it is just that people
go to incredible length to avoid getting their feet wet. The
acrobatics we witnessed were frightening, since even a twisted
ankle would mean major rescue efforts.
