Only a few miles in
and the scenery is getting grand. On the High Sierra Trail
sensory overload is the most likely trauma.

Still on day one
enroute to Bearpaw camp. The massive wall of peaks in the
distance is the Great Western Divide, which our trail is going
over on day 3 by way of Kaweah Gap. Rik Brown showing a good
stride.

Domes and spires dominate
the lower part of the Great Western Divide near Hamilton Lake.
This view is from the trail shortly after leaving Bearpaw
on day 2.

The second night's camp
is at the shores of this neat little lake. In the center of
the photo, on the low point of the skyline is Kaweah Gap, the
next day's objective.

Another view from
the camp at Hamilton Lake. The 1000' walls of granite surrounding
the lake is the heart of Valhalla. Here Angel Wings in the
background.

More flawless granite
on unnamed dome near Hamilton Lake and the trail up to Kaweah
Gap.
