Just a few minutes shy of Kaweah Gap the trail levels out and goes through intricate granite corridors.

The descent into the Big Arroyo is gentle. The route continues on the valley bottom, with the next camp just after reaching the thickly forested area in the distance.

On the long and strenuous day 4 one first climbs up on the vast Chagoopa Plateau, seen here with Mt. Kaweah, before the steep descent into the Kern Trench.
